Sexual Harassment Policy

It is the policy of the Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office (MPSO) that all employees have the right to work in an environment free from all forms of harassment, including Sexual Harassment. MPSO does not condone and will not tolerate any harassment. Direct and immediate action will be taken to prevent such behavior.

Sexual Harassment exists when any unwelcome and unwanted sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct occurs with any or all of the following conditions:

  • When submission to such conduct is either explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of an individual’s employment.
  • When submission to such conduct is used as a basis for employment decisions affecting the individual.
  • When such conduct has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual’s work performance or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working environment.

If you encounter such abuse from a supervisor, fellow employee, or vendor within the MPSO, you should report the incident(s) to your supervisor, Chief of Operations, or the Sheriff as soon as possible so that steps can be taken to protect the employee from further harassment, and appropriate investigative and disciplinary measures may be initiated.
